So the rumors that the 49ers were considering swapping Tom Brady with Jimmy Garoppolo weren’t completely untrue. How true they were exactly has to do with how you define “considering.”

What if John Lynch had his pick of the litter? If hypothetically all of the non-quarterbacks were available, would Lynch still target a WR, or is there someone else on the top of his draft board?

However you feel about Garoppolo, there’s not a valid argument to be made that he’s a bad quarterback.

With a four-round, 108-pick gap between that spot and their next pick, No. 139, in the fifth round, the situation screams a trade down.
