Right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin is back with the Minnesota Twins, who claimed him off waivers from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

Tonkin was drafted by Minnesota in 2008 and played in the organization until 2017. He swapped from the New York Mets to the Twins and back again to the Mets this past April before the Yankees claimed Tonkin off waivers from the Mets.

The Yankees designated Tonkin for assignment Sunday when they signed free agent right-hander Phil Bickford.

In 45 relief appearances this season for the Twins, Mets and Yankees, Tonkin has gone 4-4 with two saves and a 3.74 ERA. He has struck out 68 in 65 innings of work.

In 2013-17 for the Twins, Tonkin appeared in 141 games and went 3-3 with a 4.43 ERA. He also spent time with the Atlanta Braves in 2023.

Minnesota also selected the contract of right-hander Caleb Boushley from Triple-A Saint Paul, designated right-handed pitcher Trevor Richards for assignment and transferred right-hander Joe Ryan to the 60-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.

Boushley appeared in one game for the Twins earlier this season and gave up two runs on three hits and a walk in two innings. For Saint Paul, he has started 22 games and gone 9-5 with a 4.97 ERA.
