The Detroit Tigers are trading left-handed relief pitcher Andrew Chafin to the Texas Rangers, multiple reports said Tuesday.

The return for Detroit in the deal was not yet known.

The veteran Chafin, 34, joins the defending World Series champions as they attempt to make a playoff push. Despite entering the day three games below .500, the Rangers are just 3 1/2 games out of the American League West lead.
