The Giants made their first big move of the offseason on Wednesday morning, acquiring three-time All-Star 3B Evan Longoria in a trade that send both Christian Arroyo and Denard Span to Tampa Bay. Though Longoria wasn’t exactly a world beater at the plate in 2016, he is at the very worst an above average third baseman, and now gives the Giants solid players at every infield position.

Despite all that he’s achieved during his 10-year career, Evan Longoria has struggled in the postseason and Mike Krukow told Murph & Mac on Thursday morning he believes that will fuel him to find playoff redemption with the Giants.

Five weeks ago the 49ers were 0-9, without a quarterback, and looking in need of a top to bottom rebuild next offseason. Now they’re 4-10, have what appears to be a franchise QB, and after Sunday’s win over Tennessee, look like they could at least compete for a playoff spot as currently constructed.

Bumegarner, 28, is soon to be due for a massive contract extension after the 2019 season, when he would become an unrestricted free agent.
