The Washington Commanders jumped out to a 28-0 lead and cruised to a 42-19 win against the visiting Tennessee Titans on Sunday in Landover, Md., snapping a three-game losing streak.
Brian Robinson, Jr. ran for 103 yards and a touchdown as the Commanders (8-5) ran for a season-high 267 yards on 45 attempts.
Rookie Jayden Daniels completed 25 of 30 passes for 206 yards, a career-high three touchdowns and one interception. He also ran for a score. Terry McLaurin had eight catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
Will Levis completed 18 of 37 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans (3-9), who have lost three of four. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine caught three passes for 61 yards and two scores.
Tennessee lost two first-half fumbles and trailed 28-7 at halftime but closed within 28-13 after two Nick Folk field goals in the third quarter.
Washington answered late in the third quarter. Daniels hit Zach Ertz for 25 yards to the Tennessee 24 and, four plays later, Daniels found Ertz for a 4-yard touchdown and pass a 35-13 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Levis passed 17 yards over the middle to Westbrook-Ikhine for a touchdown with 7:07 remaining in the fourth quarter. The two-point conversion attempt failed and the Commanders led 35-19.
The Commanders’ Chris Rodriguez Jr. ran for a 7-yard touchdown with 3:31 remaining.
After a Titans punt the Commanders started their first drive of the game at their 41. Three plays later, Robinson ran 40 yards off tackle and untouched for a touchdown.
On their next drive, the Commanders went 80 yards in 11 plays with Daniels scoring from three yards out.
Tony Pollard then fumbled on the Titans’ second play of the ensuing possession, and Washington recovered at the Tennessee 24. On third-and-2 at the 16, Daniels hit McLaurin in the end zone and Washington led 21-0 with 24 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
The onslaught continued as Jha’Quan Jackson fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Washington recovered on the Tennessee 34. It took nine plays, but Daniels passed three yards to McLaurin on a quick slant and the score was 28-0.
Tennessee finally got on the board in the final minute of the half. Levis drove the Titans 64 yards and hit Westbrook-Ikhine for a 27-yard touchdown.
