Basketball. It’s almost back-sketball. At the very least, the mid-summer hype for the coming fall is upon us.

As reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the opening night schedule has been released. The Warriors are slated to host the Kevin Durant-led Phoenix Suns, while the reigning champion Denver Nuggets will host the Los Angeles Lakers.

What makes this unique is that it’s the first time Durant will face the Warriors in their building since he left. There have been a host of times he was supposed to face them, but missed them due to injury, or the pandemic.

His initial return was supposed to happen with the Brooklyn Nets. But the night before the game, the Rudy Gobert COVID incident — the one that shut down the world — happened, and the chances since have been missed due to health or Durant switching teams.

Now, at long last, he’ll be back in front of fans in the Bay. Anything could happen, folks. Literally anything.
