After being linked with the Warriors since the start of free agency, Golden State signed veteran forward Dario Šarić on a one-year deal according to a report of Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Šarić, 29, is a pretty big get for the Warriors, who needed to add both size and scoring to their bench unit. Saric should provide both and also passing from the high post, a la Andrew Bogut and David West.
A former 12th overall pick, Šarić hasn’t lived up to that draft position, but is still a very skilled offensive player with defensive limitations. While he didn’t feature much for the Suns last year, Šarić is a few years removed from being a consistent contributor. He averaged 17.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2018 playoffs.
A torn ACL in 2020-21 season threw a wrench in his career. Before that, he was averaging 8.7-3.8-1.3 with the Suns in over 17 minutes per game during that season.
At 6-foot-10, Šarić is now tied as the tallest player on the Warriors with rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis. He joins Draymond Green, Kevon Looney and Jackson-Davis as one of four front court players on the roster. Gui Santos seems like he could also be an option as a two-way player.
