Brock Purdy’s offseason recovery is well underway.
The 24-year-old underwent surgery on his torn ulnar collateral ligament on March 10 with an internal brace repair and has been slowly ramping up his recovery in recent weeks.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the recovery continues.
On Monday, Pelissero reported that Purdy is ramping up his throwing program, writing the following:
QB Brock Purdy is headed to Jacksonville today to throw the next couple weeks with QB coach Will Hewlett and ortho specialist Tom Gormely — another sign Purdy is progressing through his rehab following elbow surgery and remains on track to be ready for the 2023 season.
The report doesn’t specify exactly when Purdy is expected to be ready. San Francisco has offered cautious, if not vague optimism about his potential to be available at the start of the season.
If Purdy is not available, the 49ers will turn to the likes of Sam Darnold or Trey Lance, who are expected to have a fairly wide open competition in training camp. Both participated in George Kittle’s TE University in Nashville last week.
