It’s not going well on or off the field for the San Francisco Giants.
In addition to being walked off for the second time in as many days, and falling to 5-9, the Giants lost another key player to injury before the game.
Outfielder Joc Pederson was added to the 10-day Injured List with right wrist inflammation. It’s unclear how Pederson hurt the wrist, but manager Gabe Kapler said postgame that he doesn’t expect it to be a long-term injury.
Even if Pederson isn’t out for awhile, it’s still a blow to an outfield that is short on players. Pederson is now the fifth outfielder on the IL, joining Mitch Haniger (10-day), Austin Slater (10-day), Bryce Johnson (7-day) and Luis Gonzalez (60-day).
Pederson is having a nice start to the season, slashing .242/.350/.545 after making the All-Star team in 2022.
In a corresponding move, the Giants recalled OF Matt Beaty from Triple-A Sacramento.
