It was inevitable.
Draymond Green came into Wednesday night with 15 technical fouls on the season. With 13 games remaining, the odds of him avoiding a 16th were slim to none.
That said, the way he got this one was, err, interesting.
After a layup, Green threw the ball off Russell Westbrook’s face. Here’s another look at the play.
The 16th technical means Green will be suspended for the Warriors’ next game against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. He will also have to forfeit that game check.
Each additional technical will get Green a $5,000 fine and each additional two technicals will earn him another one-game suspension (18 technicals, 20 technicals, etc.).
Just moments later, Green was the beneficiary of some nonsense from Marcus Morris. The Clippers forward swung at Green and hit him in the face.
The result was a letter-of-the-law flagrant 2 call which saw Morris ejected from the game. It certainly didn’t feel like an ejection-worthy play at the moment, or on replay, but flagrant fouls are often tough to discern.
