The 49ers expected the Eagles secondary to have trouble slowing down the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. All indications are that their expectations were correct.
Brandon Aiyuk came under fire for saying that the Chiefs’ passing game would “expose” the Eagles secondary.
His wide receiver partner Deebo Samuel backed that up, saying on the “I Am Athlete” podcast that the Philadelphia weaknesses are in the secondary.
When former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy pressed him, he took a shot at corner James Bradberry IV.
While he credited Darius Slay, he didn’t show any respect for his bookend.
“The D-line makes them All-Pros,” Samuel said. “[Bradberry is] trash. Did you see the play that Brandon [Aiyuk] had, the play Purdy got hurt? The separation?”
Samuel kept it up on Twitter.
Bradberry was the one penalized for the game-altering defensive holding call that all but assured the Chiefs would win the Super Bowl. It prevented the Eagles from having a shot at a real response.
He kept it up, saying people — discernibly the Eagles — shouldn’t have been worried about the 49ers’ comments.
Keep in mind that the 49ers and the Eagles will play next year in the regular season, at Philadelphia. It’s hard to imagine that won’t be an enticing matchup.
