The Giants were expected to introduce shortstop Carlos Correa at Oracle Park Tuesday, but have postponed their press conference.
Correa, 28, reportedly signed a 13-year, $350 million deal that makes him one of the highest paid players ever and salvaged San Francisco’s offseason. The Giants haven’t yet made the transaction — first reported a week ago on Dec. 13 — official.
The team’s email sent out to media read, in its entirety: “Today’s Giants press conference has been postponed.” Earlier this week, a media advisory described a press availability set for 11 a.m. Tuesday on the club level of Oracle Park’s third base side. That press conference was expected to introduce Correa.
The Giants also canceled all their interviews on KNBR that were previously scheduled for Tuesday. Correa, manager Gabe Kapler, and president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi were each slated to appear on the air.
The San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser reported on Twitter that Correa and the Giants are awaiting test results.
To make the signing official, the Giants need to make a roster move to clear space on the 40-man. Monday, they designated reliever Gregory Santos for assignment to add left-handed starter Sean Manaea.
