Stephen Curry left Wednesday night’s Warriors game vs. the Pacers and did not return after injuring his left shoulder in the third quarter. After the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr provided an update, saying that Curry will get an MRI on Thursday.
“He’s going to get an MRI tomorrow,” Kerr said. “He was ruled out midway through the fourth, the training staff told me he wasn’t going to play the rest of the night and we’ll see how he is tomorrow.”
Curry sustained the injury when he reached in and stripping the ball from Jalen Smith on a drive to the hoop. Curry reportedly had his shoulder wrapped in the locker room but was in good spirits.
“I checked in with [Curry] briefly but haven’t had a chance to go into detail,” Kerr said. “Steph is always a guy with a great outlook on life, so he’s in good spirits.”
An extended absence for Curry would come at a bad time for the Warriors who continue to be one of the worst road teams in the NBA. That continued on Wednesday, when Curry carried Golden State (38 points in 30 minutes) before his exit, only for them to lose to the Pacers 125-119. They are now 2-13 on the road this season.
“This has been a tough stretch and if [Curry is] out it will for sure get tougher,” Kerr said. “But we’ve got to persevere. You just keep playing and keep fighting. It’s a long season. The thing I am confident about is that if we’re healthy, we feel like we can beat anybody.”
