Kyler Murray responds after being ripped by former teammate Patrick Peterson

“Kyler Murray doesn’t care about anybody but Kyler Murray.”

Those were the strong words from Murray’s former teammate — and current Vikings cornerback — Patrick Peterson on the All Things Covered Podcast.

Murray has developed a reputation for not being the best leader, one that was inflamed this offseason when it was revealed that the Cardinals tried to add a clause in his contract that required him to study film. There have also been multiple instances of him yelling at his head coach Kliff Kingsbury on the sideline, and a recent postgame comment that “schematically [the Cardinals] were kind of fucked.”

Still, it’s a different story when someone who played with Murray echos the same sort of sentiments that the public has been led to believe. It’s for that reason that Murray probably popped off on Peterson in response on Wednesday afternoon.

“This isn’t true,” Murray said on Twitter. “you on some weird shit [Patrick Peterson] you got my number, if you really felt like this as a “big bro” or “mentor” you supposed to call me and tell me, not drag me so your podcast can grow…”

Adding insult to injury, the Cardinals recently lost to Peterson’s Vikings, and are 4-8 one season after giving Murray a five-year, $230 million extension. Murray is currently ranked as the 23rd most effective quarterback in the league according to Pro Football Focus.
