Both Cardinals quarterbacks dealing with injuries ahead of matchup vs. Niners [report]

The Cardinals do not know who their starting quarterback will be when they face the 49ers.

Last week, Arizona was without starting quarterback Kyler Murray, but beat the Los Angeles Rams via a joint effort of Colt McCoy and Trace McSorley.

McCoy departed the game with a knee injury and is nursing it this week. Murray is day-to-day with a hamstring injury. It’s a situation that’s left head coach Kliff Kingsbury with an uncertain situation at quarterback, saying Wednesday that he’s not yet sure who it will be on Monday night.

The 49ers have long had trouble with the Cardinals. They lost badly in their two games last season, one of which was with Colt McCoy at the helm. Their 3-3 record over their last six matchups is a noticeable improvement from the past.

Prior to the 2019 season, when the 49ers won both matchups, SF had lost eight-straight to Arizona. Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers are 3-7 against the Cardinals.

Despite Arizona’s 4-6 record, they always seem to be a tricky matchup.

A win on Monday in Mexico City — with what is expected to be an overwhelmingly favorable crowd towards the 49ers — would ensure the 49ers would finish at worst 4-2 in the NFC West, with at least a split against the Cardinals and Seahawks.

It would send Arizona to 4-7 and in a very tough position to try and make the playoffs.
