The stove is officially on, even if Farhan Zaidi is getting things started by doing what we’re accustomed to.

After adding a catcher via waivers on Wednesday, the Giants added another, Meibrys Viloria, on Thursday and right-handed pitcher Drew Strotman from the Texas Rangers. The Giants 40-man roster is now full.

Viloria, 25, played in 25 games for the Rangers last year and has 93 appearances in his four-year major league career. Viloria, a left-handed hitter, has struggled at the plate in the big leagues, slashing .201/.270/.283. He did however impress in 54 games for Triple-A Round Rock, slashing .280/.422/.440.

Strotman, 26, is a Sunnyvale native, and was a fourth-round pick out of Saint Mary’s in 2017. Strotman has struggled mightily at the Triple-A level, posting ERAs of 6.32 and 5.29 in the last two seasons respectively. Originally a starter, Strotman made only relief appearances this season.

The two players are at positions of need — catching depth and bullpen — but may not last long on the 40-man roster as the Giants continue to add players now that free agency is open.
