The trade deadline is imminent, but one target that may make sense for the 49ers is openly available.

Odell Beckham Jr., perhaps the most enticing free agent wide receiver option on the market, has been making the rounds throughout this season. As he’s worked back from the torn ACL he suffered in the Super Bowl, he’s met with various teams.

While he’s stated he would like to return to the Rams, their failures thus far might make another suitor a more enticing option. The last time he was available, at last year’s trade deadline, both he and the 49ers had mutual interest, but San Francisco was 3-5.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it would make sense for the 49ers to show interest in Beckham Jr. again this season.

Do the 49ers really have interest if they can make a deal work?

Kyle Shanahan discussed the possibility on the “Murph & Mac Show” on Tuesday. He didn’t indicate definitively either way, but said the 49ers are happy with a wide receiver group led by Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings.

“We’re open to discussions with everybody. We look into everything,” Shanahan said. “You don’t have to worry about the trade deadline with him because he’s out there and he’s available. I’ve always been a fan of Odell, like I feel like most people are. He’s that good of a player.

“But I’m definitely very happy with our receiver group right now and love the receivers that we have.”

San Francisco will have two weeks to get back, or near to full strength. Shanahan said he expects most of the team’s key injured players to return or be close to returning by the team’s next matchup, a home game against the Los Angeles Chargers on November 13.
