Former Giants manager Bruce Bochy met with Rangers general manager Chris Young this week, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
The Rangers are in the process of hiring a new manager after letting Chris Woodward go amid a disappointing 2022 season.
Bochy, 67, retired in 2019 after 25 seasons of managing — 13 of which in San Francisco. He guided the Giants to their three World Series championships.
In his career, Bochy won 2,000 games and lost 2,029. His winning percentage with the Giants is exactly .500.
Bochy currently serves as a special advisor in the Giants’ front office. Rumors have persisted since his retirement that he might be interested in managing again, particularly when the Padres position opened last year.
“You never say never, but the rumblings are louder than what is actually happening, trust me,” Bochy said on KNBR last year.
There are several open managing positions league-wide currently, including Texas, the White Sox, Royals and Marlins. He reportedly hasn’t met with the White Sox.
