TMZ reveals details that led up to Draymond Green’s punch of Jordan Poole

We all saw the punch, but now TMZ is reporting a few details that led up to it.

The latest report says Jordan Poole called a number of fouls during Golden State’s scrimmage on Wednesday, leading to Draymond Green to repeatedly call him a “bitch.” Then things escalated via TMZ:

Things escalated when Poole allegedly said, “You know what it is, Draymond.” — seemingly bragging over the contract situation — and Draymond got in Poole’s face, allegedly saying, “No I don’t know, what is it?”

That’s when Poole pushed Draymond and the power forward retaliated with a vicious right cross.

The TMZ report also says that Poole was carrying himself in a “cocky” manner in the days leading up to the incident because of his upcoming contract extension. This reportedly created “friction between him and some of his teammates, including Draymond.”

That runs counter to what Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr and Green himself have said publicly regarding the incident, insisting that Poole has been acting appropriately throughout training camp. Green also said on Saturday that Poole’s extension had nothing to do with the incident.

Green is taking an undisclosed amount of time away from the team and will not play in the Warriors’ preseason game at Chase Center on Sunday.
