A fourth of July fireworks show at the Oakland Coliseum ended with four gunshot-related injuries, according to Oakland Police Department (OPD).
On Tuesday, OPD announced it is investigating four firearm-related injuries that occurred after 9:30 p.m. at the Coliseum, following a 5-1 Oakland A’s victory with a season-high crowd of 24,403 fans.
The A’s released the following statement providing details on the incident. Three victims were struck by “bullet fragments” and a fourth person was later revealed after going to a local hospital. None sustained life-threatening injuries, and the shots originated outside of the stadium, according to OPD.
OPD believe it was “celebratory gunfire” that caused the injuries and are offering up to $20,000 for information related to the incident.
