You really can’t make this stuff up.
An hour and a half before tip off of Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Boston, the Warriors had to cut their warmup short, after discovering their hoop was a couple inches higher than regulation. The players apparently felt something was off while shooting. A 10 foot measuring stick was then hung from the rim, and left dangling before touching the floor, proving that the hoop was indeed too high.
Steve Kerr didn’t seem to think much of it when he was informed about the oversight pregame. He cracked a joke about the game starting late before saying that this kind of stuff happens every once in a while.
Intentional or otherwise, it certainly starts Game 3 on an entertaining foot.
