A seismic shift may have just taken place in the Grizzles-Warriors series.
Ja Morant, the best player in the series through three games, is likely going to miss Monday’s Game 4 according to Memphis head coach Taylor Jenkins.
The development is a nightmare scenario for the Grizzlies, who are already down 2-1 in the series and have lost home court advantage.
Morant hurt his knee during the fourth quarter of Game 3. According to Jenkins, it happened on a play in which Jordan Poole grabbed Morant’s knee, with Jenkins going so far as to imply that the league should take action against Poole. The NBA has decided not to take action according to Anthony Slater.
Morant sent out a tweet implying Poole “broke the code,” alluding to what Steve Kerr said Dillon Brooks did when he injured Gary Payton II in Game 2. Morant has since deleted the tweet.
One silver lining for the Grizzlies is that they were 20-5 without Morant on the court this year.
