More bad injury news for the Warriors.

Days after learning they would be without Stephen Curry for at least two weeks with a foot injury, Golden State center James Wiseman has sustained another setback, throwing a return to the court this season in doubt according to Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.

Wiseman, who has missed all of the 2021-22 season recovering from a meniscus tear, is experiencing swelling in that right knee, and will not see on court action for the time being. Wiseman had been playing rehab games for G League Santa Cruz in a ramp up to what was hoped to be a return to the Warriors for their stretch run.

Wiseman originally injured the knee at the beginning of last season and was supposed to return early this year. His recovery stalled, however, and the 7-footer had to have a second surgery to clean up debris in the knee. In recent weeks, Wiseman’s knee seemed to be responding well, and the 20-year old played 21, 20 and 21 minutes in the last three Santa Cruz Warriors games.

Now, Wiseman’s status is again cloudy, and with only 12 regular season games remaining, the second-year center now faces the prospect of a lost season.
