The man who cannot get enough attention is back at it once again.
After another season of being knocked out of the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers, complaining that he was being “canceled” by a “woke mob” on Pat McAfee’s nationally-syndicated radio show and openly debating — and reveling in the speculation — whether he would retire, or seek a trade, Aaron Rodgers did the most predictable thing possible. He re-signed with the Green Bay Packers.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it’s a four-year, $200 million deal. What was Rodgers’ endgame? Discernibly, it was to make sure his star receiver, Davante Adams, got paid.
His deal, though monstrous, with a record-breaking $50 million per year average, will open up immediate cap space to a Packers team which is in the second-worst cap situation in the league, above only the disastrously-situated New Orleans Saints.
It is also the most guaranteed money ever for an NFL player at $153 million.
The net result is that after all the talk and Rodgers-created speculation over whether he was going for one last dance with the Packers, he and Adams will be back, again.
