According to Adam Schefter, Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to be traded by the end of the month. The question is, where?
According to insider Jordan Schultz, two teams have serious interest in Garoppolo. The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are looking to compete following the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, and the Washington Commanders, who have a talented roster but haven’t had an above-average QB since Alex Smith, are the two parties in question.
The Steelers and Commanders are two of the consensus betting favorites to land Garoppolo, along with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. Recent rumblings would indicate that the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are likely to stay with the Packers and Seahawks respectively, meaning that Garoppolo might the best QB available on the trading block this offseason.
That’s the good news for the 49ers. The bad news is that Garoppolo is about to undergo a surgery on his throwing shoulder, one that will not be healed until the summer. That could hurt his value considering Garoppolo is already known to be incredibly injury prone.
