Bruce Arians says he wouldn’t trade Brady to another team, gives wild price tag for what it would take

You can shut the door on the Tom Brady-to-the-49ers rumors. If you believe Bruce Arians’ latest comments at least.

The Bucs head coach didn’t mince words when asked if he would help facilitate a trade of Brady to another team should the quarterback decide to come out of retirement. Since Brady’s retirement announcement, rumors have swirled that he wants to return to the NFL, just not with the Bucs. The 49ers are one of the primary teams he’s been linked to.

“Nope. Bad business,” Arians said when asked if he would accommodate a Brady trade. Arians went on to say that the price tag for Brady would be five first-round draft picks.

The 49ers don’t even have first round picks in the next two drafts, trading both for Trey Lance last offseason. But that’s a moot point. Arians and the Bucs clearly aren’t trading Brady, and if they were, he would cost far more than San Francisco could, or is willing to pay, for what could be a one year rental.

So the Brady pipe dream is finally over. Now we just wait for the Aaron Rodgers situation to play out before the Trey Lance era can officially begin. Until the next big name QB becomes available of course.
