While there is no business being done in MLB, the minor leagues are still operating. On Friday, Minor League Baseball announced that five players were suspended for violating the Minor League’s Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
One of those players was Giants Minor League pitcher Austin Reich, a 24-year-old, 6’3″ right-hander from Northwestern State.
Per the league’s press release, Reich will be suspended for 50 games without pay after testing positive for Amphetamine, a stimulant which violates the league’s program.
Reich spent last season with the Giants’ High-A affiliate, the Eugene Emeralds, where he pitched 60.2 innings over 34 games and earned a 1.63 ERA.
