Well, we know where Joe Montana stands on the Jimmy Garoppolo-Trey Lance debate. The greatest quarterback in 49ers history is in camp Jimmy.
Montana was down at Radio Row in Los Angeles on Thursday where he sat down with The Ringer’s Kevin Clark.
Clark asked Montana how he would go about fixing or improving the 49ers going forward, and whether he would move on from Garoppolo and stick with Lance.
Montana admitted he’s pro-Garoppolo and believes that Lance is not prepared to be the starter.
“I think they keep Jimmy until you find somebody else,” Montana said. “I don’t think Trey’s ready to play yet, as myself and after talking to some of the players. I think it’s one of those things that if you can keep Jimmy healthy, he plays well enough to get you here.”
Later on, Montana said he’s “not very good” at making NFL predictions because he picks with his heart.
Garoppolo is widely expected to be traded this offseason and gave a farewell in an expected final press conference at the end of the season.
