The 49ers have built a roster with a number of blue chip players since John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan took over in 2017, and the Giants are interested in poaching some of the staff that helped them do it.
That’s according to Peter Schrager of NFL Network, who says that New York has asked the 49ers for permission to interview Assistant General Manger Adam Peters and Director of Player Personnel Ran Carthon for their vacant general manager position.
Both Peters and Carthon joined the 49ers front office with Shanahan and Lynch in 2017. Before taking the assistant GM job to Lynch, Peters worked in the Denver Broncos front office for eight-years. Carthon, a former NFL running back, began working as a scout in 2008 with the Atlanta Falcons and was eventually hired as the director of pro personnel for the Rams in 2012.
The Giants are looking to replace departed General Manager Dave Gettleman who retired on Monday.
