If you were looking for pure entertainment, Saturday night’s boxing match between Frank Gore and Deron Williams did not disappoint.
The two former athletes participated in their first boxing match as the undercard to the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley fight. It might not have been the sweet science, but Gore and Williams spent most of the match throwing haymakers in each other’s direction, connecting frequently.
Williams ultimately won the four round match by split decision. However, the most newsworthy part of the fight was not the outcome, but rather each fighter throwing the other out of the ring during the match.
Williams started it, shoving Gore through the ropes during the second round and punching him while he was on the ground in what appeared to be a dirty move.
Gore ultimately retaliated, throwing Williams through the ropes later on in the round.
49ers running back Raheem Mostert did not care for the way Williams was “boxing” against the greatest running back in 49ers history.
