With his record breaker on Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden, Stephen Curry now has more regular season 3-pointers than anyone in the history of the NBA.
Curry passed Ray Allen’s previous record of 2,973. It took Curry 789 to break the milestone Allen needed 1,300 games to set.
It’s tough to narrow down Curry’s 2,975 3s into a list. There are countless buzzer beaters, circus shots, game-winners, lookaways and jaw-dropping sequences.
“Steph, in a lot of ways, is like Michael Jordan,” GSW coach Steve Kerr said on Dec. 7. “There are so many moments, they just bleed into each other. They don’t stand out. Maybe that’s the true sign of greatness.”
Curry changed the game by forcing players and coaches to rethink what a good and bad shot is. He’s inspired a generation of young hoopers to expand their range as soon as they pick up a basketball. And now he’s on pace to obliterate the all-time 3-point record.
“It’s not too often the basketball Gods grace us with something like this,” Juan Toscano-Anderson said recently. “Enjoy the show, ladies and gentleman.”
