Frank Gore Jr. forced to play emergency quarterback, leads Southern Miss to victory

Frank Gore’s son is turning some heads at Southern Mississippi.

Gore Jr. is the leading rusher for the Golden Eagles this season (733 yards), but it was what he did through the air that proved to be the difference on Friday. Gore Jr. was forced to take over as the team’s emergency quarterback in their game at Louisiana Tech due to injury issues, and helped lead the team to a win.

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that the son of an NFL player who has been called a “football savant” was able to thrive in an unnatural position. Gore Jr. tossed two touchdown passes, went 4-for-8 passing for 75 yards and added another touchdown on the ground.

Southern Miss would go onto win the game 35-19.
