There’s nothing quite like the midweek workout wire. On Wednesday, the 49ers made a handful of roster moves and worked out a reported seven players across a variety of positions.

The team announced that right tackle Mike McGlinchey was placed on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending quad tear, and sophomore guard/tackle Colton McKivitz was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. Linebacker Christian Eliss was also released from the practice squad.

According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the 49ers worked out seven players:

  • Lavert Hill, a corner out of the University of Michigan
  • Corbin Kaufusi, a recent 49ers practice squad tackle who was with the team during training camp
  • Jimmy Murray, a former Chiefs center out of Holy Cross
  • Dan Skipper a former Detroit Lions tackle
  • Saivion Smith, a former Dallas Cowboys corner
  • Jayson Stanley, a corner most recently with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020
  • Willie Wright, a center recently on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad
