Some of the folks in Vegas seem to think the Giants 2021 season was a fluke.

That’s what the latest World Series odds would indicate according to popular betting website Bovada. They give the Giants the 12th best odds to win the title next year, and have San Francisco behind five teams in the National League. Here’s the list:

Dodgers +500

Braves +1000

Astros +1000

White Sox +1200

Yankees +1200

Rays +1200

Brewers +1400

Padres +1400

Blue Jays +1400

Red Sox +1800

Mets +1800

Giants +2000

As a reminder, the Giants finished with a better record than all of those teams in 2021, including the Padres and Mets who did not make the playoffs. San Diego is likely getting a boost from the recent appointment of Bob Melvin as their new manager, one of the more respected dugout presences in the league.

The Giants’ various roster question marks are also likely hurting their odds. The entire rotation aside from Logan Webb are free agents. Brandon Belt is set to hit the open market, as is Buster Posey if the Giants don’t exercise his club option. Zaidi has said that he would “love” to have both players back.
