We have our first 49ers-Seahawks game of the year, and it’s an early one, with both teams nursing a few key injuries. San Francisco has some disappointments on the injury front, but gets a couple key positives.
Here are the team’s inactives for Sunday.
- CB Josh Norman (chest/lungs)
- CB K’Waun Williams (calf)
- RB Elijah Mitchell (shoulder)
- G Aaron Banks (healthy)
- DL Zach Kerr (healthy)
Norman was doubtful, needing to pass certain imaging tests to ensure that his lungs no longer had fluid in them after being hit in the chest with a helmet last Sunday. Mitchell was questionable, but Kyle Shanahan said he was still dealing with significant pain in his shoulder.
But on the plus side, George Kittle, who was questionable with a calf injury, will play. Javon Kinlaw (knee) was also listed as questionable is, but that’s sort of been the norm for him since the season started.
Zach Kerr’s inactive status represents the return of Maurice Hurst, who was activated from injured reserve this week after a stellar preseason.
Here are the Seahawks inactives:
The major takeaway here is that star receiver Tyler Lockett, who sustained a hip injury last week, will play against a threadbare 49ers secondary which will likely start Emmanuel Moseley, Deommodore Lenoir and Dontae Johnson, with Lenoir the likely slot corner. Buster Skrine, who was recently signed, could also play, but it’s likely he and Dre Kirkpatrick provide depth off the bench. Rookie corner Ambry Thomas is also active for the first time since Week 1.
