It appears official; after one game, the 49ers have suffered two season-ending injury to starters.

Starting corner Jason Verrett was confirmed to have torn his ACL late on Sunday. Running back Raheem Mostert had to be pulled after just three plays with what Kyle Shanahan described as chipped cartilage in his knee, with an expected eight-week recovery timeline.

Now, according to Mostert, he’ll undergo season-ending surgery, with NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo saying Mostert likely opted for a full repair of his knee rather than a surgery which could have had him return this season, but perhaps not fully resolve the issue.

This leaves two rookies in Elijah Mitchell, Trey Sermon and second-year back JaMycal Hasty as the three health running backs on the roster. Shanahan also expressed confidence that Jeff Wilson Jr. would return this year around the middle of the season.
