Klay Thompson offers promise to fans immediately following Warriors loss

It was tough to watch the Warriors come up short for the second game in a row on Friday, losing to the Grizzlies in overtime and being eliminated from a playoff berth in the process. It was even tougher when you imagine how this team would have looked had Klay Thompson not been scratched from the second consecutive season with an injury.

If it was hard for you, it was even harder for Klay, who took to Instagram after the 117-112 loss to send a message to the fans, and the rest of the NBA, that the Warriors will be back to contending for a championship next season.

“I’m so proud of every man on this team,” Thompson wrote. “We fought thru a lot of adversity this season and it will pay dividends next season when we make another run at it. I’ve got to watch a lot of hoops the last 2 years, and figured out quick it’s not my specialty. While our season comes to an end, mines just getting started and I’ve never been hungrier. I TRULY BELIEVE my best ball lies ahead of me, we ain’t done I promise you that.”

As you know by now, Thompson missed all of this season after tearing his Achilles during a preseason training session, one year after missing all of the 2019-20 season with a torn ACL sustained in the 2019 Finals.

In the last five seasons Thompson has suited up for the Warriors, they’ve made it to the NBA Finals. Warriors fans are hoping to make that six next year.
