While vaccinations continue to increase and positivity rates decrease, especially in California, Friday morning provided a reminder of the perils that professional athletes and staffs are facing on road trips.
According to Anthony Slater, Damion Lee will enter the league’s health and safety protocols for what seems to be a positive COVID-19 test, and is expected to be absent for 10-14 days.

On Friday morning, that news got worse, with Slater reporting that Kent Bazemore has also entered the league’s health and safety protocols.
Lee responded on Twitter on Thursday night, announcing that he had received a vaccine. Head coach Steve Kerr announced on March 25 that 12 Warriors players had gotten vaccinated, but received the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Based on the latest data, it’s clear the single dose Johnson and Johnson/Janssen vaccine is less effective than the Pfizer or Moderna two-shot vaccines. According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, it is 67 percent against moderate to severe–critical COVID-19 at least 14 days after administration, and 66 percent effective at 28 days after vaccination and even more effective against sever to critical COVID-19.
