The Deshaun Watson sweepstakes are apparently back on, folks. That’s thanks to the Houston Texans signing their insurance policy on Tuesday for when/if Watson is traded. Houston brought in Tyrod Taylor on a reported $5.5 million deal which could be worth up to $12.5 million in incentives.
With that indication that the Texans could be preparing for life without Watson, the speculation train is back on track. Because Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract and the Texans reportedly do not want to trade him to another AFC team, well, that leaves limited options.
According to Michael Lombardi of The Athletic, the 49ers are rumored to be on his short list, along with the Denver Broncos.

“He controls where he wants to go,” Lombardi said. “The rumor is he doesn’t want to play in New York. The rumor is he doesn’t want to play in Miami. He wants to play in Denver and San Francisco. So now you’re [Houston GM} Nick Caserio and now your trade options are limited.”
