It’s getting harder and harder to argue that Joe Montana is the greatest quarterback of all time. Don’t believe it? Just ask Joe Montana.
“I think Tom (Brady)’s taken his place on the top up there a long time ago,” Montana said on ESPN’s “First Take”. “He’s had a tremendous career, he’s fun to watch. Everybody always contests over that, but I think when you look at what Tom has been able to accomplish over the time he’s played, I think that puts him definitely up there at the top of the list.”
Now both Montana and Rice have acknowledged that Brady stands alone on the top of the mountain, just a month after Brady won his seventh Super Bowl, which is more than any other quarterback, or NFL player, have appeared in.
Montana of course won four in four tries, but his undeafeated record stands as about the only accomplishment he has over Brady at this point.
“It’s hard to compare, but if you’re looking at it it’s definitely Tom at that point.”
