There’s a reason the 49ers and Raiders have gone out of their way to not play each other. It tends to result in some less-than savory behavior on both sides. But according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports and Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the two teams will meet in the preseason for the first time in nine years. Per Tafur, it won’t be in Allegiant Stadium, it will be in Santa Clara.

Now, this all assumes that fans will actually be allowed into games. Based on the way county and state government officials have spoken about their approach to re-opening the economy and having professional sporting events return in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, in combination with statements by health experts, that seems exceedingly unlikely to happen, especially in the preseason.
