Three days after knocking off the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, the Chiefs paraded through Kansas City and had some leftover ammunition reserved for former pal and current enemy Dee Ford.
Ford, the 49ers defensive end, was replaced by Frank Clark a season after his lining up in the neutral zone may have cost the Chiefs the AFC Championship, a late interception being waved off and the Patriots storming back.
Travis Kelce — donning a WWE title belt and in full-on villain mode — didn’t need to mention Ford’s name to slight the 49er.
“How about my dog, 5-5, and he ain’t offsides, motherf—–g Frank Clark,” Kelce shouted Wednesday. “What’s good!”
The Clark-Ford rivalry is a curious one. Ford was an All Pro in that 2018 season, but his 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles were forgotten in the wake of his penalty. He was shipped to San Francisco and Clark was imported from Seattle, going on to have an All Pro season of his own and telling NFL Network before the Super Bowl, “I’m not really too fond of Dee Ford.”
Kelce — who, by the way, was introduced as “the best tight end in the National Football League” — was not quite as coy.
