The Warriors were out of space to hand out anything other than minimum contracts and faced with limited options left on the market. Despite that, they still managed to secure a solid, near-starting-caliber guard. According to Shams Charania, the Warriors have signed guard Alec Burks, formerly of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers, who spent most of his career with the Utah Jazz.
Guard Alec Burks has agreed to a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, agent JR Hensley tells @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. “Alec was extremely appreciative about how the Thunder handled the situation and he’s looking forward to his new opportunity,” Hensley said.

Burks had reportedly signed with the Thunder July 2 on a minimum deal, before the massive Paul George trade to the Los Angeles Clippers went down. At that point, the Thunder reportedly allowed Burks to seek deals elsewhere, and with that leeway, Burks joined the Warriors.

Burks projects to help the Warriors immediately, as a 27-year-old wing player who is a decent 3-point shooter. Burks is a career 9.5 points per game scorer on 35.5 percent shooting from three and 42.4 percent shooting from the field. In 34 games with the Cavaliers last season, where he spent the majority of the season, he scored 11.6 points per game on 37.8 percent 3-point shooting and 45 percent shooting from the field. He was a former 12th overall pick with the Jazz in 2011.
