The San Francisco 49ers released their first unofficial depth chart on Monday afternoon, ahead of the team’s exhibition opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday at Levi’s Stadium.

The list is put together primarily by the 49ers’ public relations team and should be therefore taken with a large grain of salt as a predictor of what the depth chart will actually look like once the regular season starts.

Notably, a number of incumbent players are listed ahead of rookies who are expected to supplant them in the coming weeks. Second-round pick Dante Pettis, for example, is listed behind Aaron Burbridge at wide receiver, even though Burbridge is not a lock to make the team, and is expected to serve primarily on special teams. The same can be said of Fred Warner, the 49ers third round pick who is sitting as the third string MIKE linebacker behind Brock Coyle.

Four new faces — C Weston Richburg, RT Mike McGlinchy, RB Jerick McKinnon, and CB Richard Sherman — are listed as starters. Sherman will not play in the 49ers preseason opener on Thursday.
