As 49ers training camp continued Tuesday, the team was hit with some good news and bad news.
The good news is that five players — guard Jonathan Cooper, receiver Trent Taylor, safety Marcell Harris, and linebackers Malcolm Smith and Dekoda Watson — have been cleared to return to practice. The bad news is that Arik Armstead, who has played in just 14 games the past two seasons and had his fifth-year option picked up this offseason, is being listed as week-to-week with a hamstring injury.

Tight end Cole Hikutini has also been added to the injury list with a groin issue and is expected back next week, while Joshua Garnett (knee) remains day-to-day.
Armstead, 24, has had a limited impact with the team since being selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2015 draft, but is expected to be one of the team’s starting defensive ends for Week 1. Armstead played and started in six games last season, but had his year cut short after breaking his hand in Week 6.
