The Golden State Warriors reportedly want second-year center Jordan Bell to improve his eating habits, but not for the reasons you might think.
“I look skinny, huh? I haven’t eaten right lately,” Bell told Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News at the NBA Summer League. “Just being so busy and trying to get everything and going home for camps. I had to go home for the Warriors and I forget to eat. I’ll do better at that.
“I forget to eat all the time. It’s just like that. Growing up, I didn’t have much to eat. So I learned to survive without eating.”
According to Medina, “the Warriors have told (Bell) to increase his calorie consumption by eating healthy snacks in between meals.”
Bell is already slender for someone who is 6-foot-9, weighing in at just 224 pounds last season, before dropping a few more this summer.
After an embarrassing moment in the first summer league game where he botched a dunk that he tossed off the backboard to himself, Bell looked like a stud in game two, finishing with 8 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals in 24 minutes, while holding Kings second overall pick Marvin Bagley to 3-of-16 shooting.
Bell also provided the play of the night with a lefty putback dunk in transition.

With the exit of JaVale McGee, and both Zaza Pachulia and David West unlikely to return, it’s expected that Bell will see more consistent minutes with the Warriors next season, especially until new addition DeMarcus Cousins is ready to return from his Achilles injury.
Bell averaged 4.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1 block in 14.2 minutes per game last season.
