49ers discussing multi-year deal with Richard Sherman [report]

Friday night, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reportedly had dinner with recently released cornerback Richard Sherman. On Saturday, the two parties are apparently discussing a three-year deal, ESPN’s Josina Anderson is reporting.

Sherman, 29, was released by the Seahawks earlier this week, after spending the first seven seasons of his career in Seattle. During his time there, Sherman made four Pro Bowls, four All-Pro teams, and helped the Seahawks to their first and only Super Bowl victory in 2013. Sherman’s season ended after nine games in 2017 when he sustained a ruptured Achilles in Week 10.

Cornerback is priority number one for the 49ers this season, and Sherman was still one of the top corners in the game last year before his injury. Reports are that Sherman would be ready to go by August, but how long it will take him to get back to his old self remains to be seen.

Marcus Thompson of The Athletic reported that Sherman, who is acting as his own agent, and his wife dined with Kyle Shanahan in Los Gatos on Friday, and met with the 49ers at some point on Saturday. According to Spotrac, Sherman’s current market value is around $10.5 million per year.
