One of the Warriors’ top executives is reportedly heading to South Florida.
Warriors Chief Marketing Officer Chip Bowers has been hired by the Miami Marlins as president of business operations according to a report by Scott Soshnick of Bloomberg. Bowers will work directly under minority owner and Chief Executive Officer Derek Jeter.

Bowers is currently in his fourth season as the Warriors’ CMO were he “oversees all marketing and corporate partnership sales & services efforts for the organization,” according to the team’s website. Under Bowers, the Warriors recieved the SportsBusiness Journal’s 2014 Sports Team of the Year award, and a league-high seven awards at the 2014 NBA Sales and Marketing meetings. Bowers previously worked for the Orlando Magic, Seattle SuperSonics, and San Diego Padres.

Bowers will oversee many of the efforts to boost revenue, including finding a new naming-rights partner for Marlins Park and negotiating a new local television contract. The current deal with Fox Sports, which pays the team about $20 million a season — below what other teams in comparable markets get — expires in three years.
