Durant responds to LeBron James rumors

On Wednesday evening, Chris Haynes of ESPN dropped a report that LeBron James is open to free agent talks with the Warriors this offseason. On Thursday at Warriors shoot around, Kevin Durant was fairly candid when asked what he thought about the initial report.

“Bullshit,” Durant said.

“But you know in this league just a couple years ago, me coming here, nobody would’ve thought that,” he continued. “There’s part of me as a basketball player that’s just like ‘worry about basketball,’ and then there’s the other side which is a business. Crazy things have happened since I’ve been in the league, and there’s going to be even crazier things that happen in the future.

Durant then spoke about the NBA media in general, calling the sensationalism surrounding many stories around the league “sickening.”

“That’s the nature of the game right now,” Durant said “It’s more so about free agency, the business side of basketball, than it is the real game. Nothing’s far-fetched when it comes to the stories and headlines and clicks, but what should be about the game is getting farther and farther away from the real game.

“It’s not interesting because you turn on your TV, you turn on anything that has to do with basketball, there’s less about the game, more about this stuff. As a pure basketball player, as a pure fan of the game. At this point, it’s pretty sickening.”
