Steve Kerr already earned a technical foul.
So his mentor, Gregg Popovich, decided to one-up him.
Well, that’s not exactly how things went down on Thursday night, but both head coaches expressed plenty of frustration with the officials as the Warriors pulled away from the Spurs.
After Kerr received a technical foul for arguing in the first quarter, Popovich was thrown out out of the game late in the fourth quarter after picking up a technical foul for disputing a Warriors’ three-pointer that the Spurs’ head coach thought should have resulted in a traveling call. On the play, Warriors’ center Jordan Bell found second-year guard Pat McCaw who hit a big late game three, and Popovich felt that the officials missed an opportunity to blow their whistles when Bell took an extra step in the lane.
Popovich didn’t like it, and after speaking his mind, he earned an early trip to the locker room.
